To day I went down to Father's and received from Frank Stewart the sum of one hundred dollars that he collected for me at Cairo. I paid five dollars for taking up Charley Lund's horse that he borrowed at Cairo, and sent him to Cairo by Frank Stewart. After dinner I returned home in company with Mother, Father also came up in the evening and I let him have 30$ in cash. weather was cloudy & occasional showers of rain. At night there was a frost.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
