To day I went down to Mother's and had a settlement with her. I find that I advanced her upon 5 D/C the sum of $112.50 and upon our final settlement she fell in my debt $20.10. I gave to Father a power of attorney to manage and control my boy Albert. in the evening I returned home & found Charley Hall there. weather clear & pleasant.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
