To day I am circulating generally in and about the store with nothing doing. weather cloudy & warm but rather pleasant.

Monday, May 13th, 1861


To day the Steamer Ruthven came up from Galveston with Charley Lund in company with Miss Lizzie Robinson as passenger. He (Lund) having been absent from home for the past 2 weeks. James Wrigley left on the Steamer for Galveston. business very dull. weather changable throughout the day but a very hard rain at night.

Saturday, May 11th, 1861


To day I am engaged in the office, doing but little business however. In the evening I went up to town and remained there for some time drilling the K.G.C.'s. weather changable and pleasant.

To day the steamer Lone Star passed up the river bound for Hall's bluff with a good load on board, T.W. Reed and several others of my acquaintance being on board homeward bound. The river is falling. weather clear and pleasant.

To day I am engaged generally as salesman both in the store and in the ware house with very little doing however. weather clear and pleasant.

To day George Gordon came up in command of the Steamer Ruthven, Capt. Peacock being sick and confined. I am engaged in the office and but little business doing. weather clear and warm.
