To day we are still at work on the war tax rolls. Sam* is busy making out a/c's. I sent the wagons down to Swilley's after corn and got 45 bushels which was all put into Capt. J. Wrigley's crib. Bill at work on the fence. The steamer Ruthven left for Galveston. weather changeable and warm. [*Sam is the 2nd great-grandpa of the Keeper of this blog]
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
