To day I am engaged at the store. Sam* [Samuel Houston Sharp] making out a/c's. The boys are still at work on my fence with some prospect of finishing. weather cloudy, warm & showery.

29 April 1862. The conquering Federals at New Orleans post a United States flag on the New Orleans Custom House and on the City Hall, much to the sorrow and anger of the citizenry.
