To day I remained at home reading. I sent John out in hunt of the oxen. Toby [Horace Oscar Hall] & Louisa came up from Mothers and brought with them a little negro boy by the name of Carroll alias Wolf which Mother [Mahala* Sharp Hall nee Roberts] had presented to the little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp]. Charley Hall came out from Crockett and remained for the night. weather cloudy & warm with occasional showers of rain. at night it rained very hard.
*This Mahala is a 3rd great-grandma to the Keeper of this family history blog.
