Thursday, June 2nd, 1864

To day the boys are still at work in the lower field. I spent the day working in the garden and writing up this note book. The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] & children are still absent on their visit, and this protracted stay sorely perplexes me. Hicks ground 7½ bushels of corn. Weather variable & warm with occasional light showers of rain. Ther: 82°.
