Tuesday, July 26th, 1864

To day Bill is still at work pulling fodder. John done nothing in consequence of a bruise received on his finger in taking the stove out of the wagon. Mrs. Keen came over and drew the thread in the harness and sley of the little woman's [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] loom and wove about ¼ yd of cloth. Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] rode down to the mill & back. Florence [Florence Mahala Hall] & Josephine [Josephine Martha Hall] are still sick with fevers. Weather clear & hot. Ther: 90°.

Monday, July 25th, 1864

To day Bill is at work in the mill field pulling fodder. I drove my buggy over to Mr. Keen's and got him to mend the spring, and to put a wrought iron back in my cooking stove. Mother [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] came up and spent the day & took Fanny [Fanny Fitzsimmons] home with her in the evening. Florence [Florence Mahala Hall] is still sick. Josephine [Josephine Martha Hall] has taken sick with fever. Weather clear & hot. Ther: 90°.

Sunday, July 24th, 1864

To day I drove Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] over to Mrs. Keen's in the buggy where her and Mrs. Keen drove up to the Baptist church to hear the funeral sermon of Silas E. Keen preached by the Rev. Mr. Nash. Nellie and Mrs. Keen returned home in the evening. Florence [Florence Mahala Hall] was taken sick with fever. Weather clear and hot. Ther: 92°.

Saturday, July 23rd, 1864

To day the boys commenced pulling fodder in the mill field. The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp], Florence [Florence Mahala Hall] & I drove down to the mill in the buggy but did not stay long. Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] came up from Father's [Joshua James Hall] and brought Berta [Roberta Downes Halyard nee Hall] home with her. Father came up in the evening and took Berta home. I put up the little woman's loom ready for work. Weather clear and hot. Ther: 95°.

Friday, July 22nd, 1864

To day the boys cut up & salted down the beef and then made a trip down to the mill and brought up the little woman's [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] loom. Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] rode down to Mother's [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] and remained there all night. Weather changeable and hot with a light shower of rain. Ther: 92°.

Thursday, July 21st, 1864

To day the boys went down to Father's [Joshua James Hall] and killed a beef. I rode my horse hawk as far as Mrs. Bird's and there I borrowed her horse Jo and rode to Crockett. while at Crockett I purchased 1 oz. quinine for 300$. 1 oz. blue mass 45$. 5 combs 50$. 2 lbs. blk. pepper 60$. In the evening I returned home. Mother [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] came up & spent the day. Weather variable and hot. Ther: 90°.

Wednesday, July 20th, 1864

To day I went out with the boys after a beef but without success. The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] & Louisa walked down to Mother's [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] and back. I rode down to the mill & back to see how things are going on. Weather changeable & hot, with a light shower of rain. Ther: 92°.
