Thursday, May 22nd, 1862

To day I finished delivering the goods sold to Messrs. Dreyfus & Levy, and had a final settlement with them. The [Trinity] river is now down to low water mark. weather cloudy with occasional showers of rain.

Wednesday, May 21st, 1862

To day I am busy delivering the goods sold to Messrs. Dreyfus & Levy, having two wagons constantly going. The [Trinity] river is still falling very fast. weather clear and very warm.

Tuesday, May 20th, 1862

To day I am still engaged in making out the inventory of the goods sold to Dreyfus & Levy. Charley Lund returned from from his Collection tour having made a quick trip. The boys are at work clearing the wharf of the drift wood left on it by the falling of the [Trinity] river, which is now receding very fast. weather changeable & warm.

Monday, May 19th, 1862

To day I am busily engaged in making out an inventory of the goods sold to Messrs. Dreyfus & Levy. Charley Lund left on another tour for the collection of the war tax. Capt. James Wrigley left on the train of cars for the City of Houston. Bill is at work on the fence by himself. weather changeable & rather warm.

To day Capt. Wrigley, Sam Sharp* & myself are very busy taking an account of stock sold to Dreyfus & Levy. The [Trinity] river is falling very fast. weather clear & warm. [*Sam is the 2nd great-grandpa of the Keeper of this blog.]

Saturday, May 17th, 1862

To day I contracted with & sold to Messrs. Dreyfus & Levy the remainder of our stock of goods. after the entire time & conditions of the sale had been settled, we proceeded to take stock. The boys are at work on the fence. the [Trinity] river commenced to fall gently. weather changeable & warm.
