Mother [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] came up to see Jimmy [James Wrigley Hall] who is still very very sick and sinking rapidly under his disease. mother remained for the night. Dr. Murchison came to see Jimmy but after prescribing he left. Laura [Leaverton] & Isabella [Downes] called in to see Jimmy but did not stop long. Louisa & Wolf were both taken with fever. Billy Stewart came out from Crockett & stopped with me for the night. he handed me 360$ sent to me by Billy Wingfield. Weather changeable and hot. Ther: 90°.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
