Monday, June 30th, 1862

To day I am busy in the Provost Marshal's office. Bill is at work on the fence, with a prospect of getting the garden fenced in some time. Capt. Frankland returned from Smith's point on my horse Rat. he seems somewhat jaded from his travel. weather clear & very hot. Ther: 99° being the hottest day of the summer so far, & I sincerely hope it will be no hotter. Thus I close the jottings for June.
