Wednesday, June 8th, 1864

To day the boys are at work in the lower field. The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] and children drove down to Mother's [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] and spent the day. Roberta [Roberta Downes Halyard nee Hall] came up with her on a visit. Hicks ground 16 bushels of corn. I remained in the house writing up this journal or notebook. Weather cloudy and cool, with a hard rain & occasional showers throughout the day. Ther: 76°.
