To day the little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp], children, Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] and myself all rode down to mother's [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] and spent the day. while we were there Toby [Horace Oscar Hall] went in swimming and came near being drowned. John Connelly left Mother's for home [i.e., Georgetown] riding Father's [Joshua James Hall] little mule pompy. Weather clear and warm. Ther: 88°.
