To day I am busy in the office. Capt. James Wrigley left on the cars for Camp Waul. The little wagon is still under repair & detains my folks from starting on their trip up the Country [to Houston County]. Bill at work on the fence. weather clear & hot. Ther: 96°.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.

To day I am engaged in my office. Sam Sharp still working in the Ware house. The boys are at work hauling salt for Mr. De Blanc. I purchased a horse "Rat" from Mr. Pounds for which I paid him $150. My folks are anxious to start up the Country, being ready. weather clear & hot. Ther: 93°.

To day I am busy in my office. Sam Sharp is engaged at the Ware house. The boys are busy hauling freight. Capt. James Wrigley and Charley Lund arrived home on the cars from Houston. The little woman & Nellie finished packing their trunks, and are now ready to start on their trip up the Country [to Houston County] as soon as I can have my little wagon & buggy repaired. weather clear & hot. *Sam and Nellie are 2nd great-grandparents to the Keeper of this family history blog. Margaret is Sam's sister, and is step-sister as well as wife to JMH.
