To day I am at work at the warehouse. Roberta [Downes Halyard nee Hall], Jimmy [James Wrigley Hall], Fanny and Pet [Florence Mahala Hall] are all sick with fevers. Mr. Gordon, Mr. Angell and Grand Ma Gayle all left on the cars for Houston. Col. Wrigley with the hands commenced to build a shop for wagon work. Weather clear and warm. Ther : 82°. Thus I close my notes for the month of June.

Friday, June 29th, 1866

To day I am at work are the warehouse. Roberta [Downes Halyard nee Hall], Jimmy [James Wrigley Hall] and Fanny all had another fever. Mr. Angell is still with me. Col. Wrigley with the hands finished the salt shed. Weather clear and warm. Ther : 82°.

Thursday, June 28th, 1866

To day I am much better after a night's sweet repose and am now ready and able to enter upon my business matters. Col. Wrigley with the hands are at work on the salt shed. Mr. Angell is still with me. Roberta [Downes Halyard nee Hall], Jimmy [James Wrigley Hall] and Fanny are all sick with fever. Weather clear & warm. Ther: 80°.

Wednesday, June 27th, 1866

To day I done but little work. I am however loafing around generally for want of sleep and rest from my dissipation last night. Mr. Angell is still with me. Hicks is at work on the salt shed. Roberta [Downes Halyard nee Hall] & Jimmy [James Wrigley Hall] both had fever. Weather variable and hot with a shower of rain in the evening. Ther : 92°.

Monday, June 25th, 1866

To day I worked at the warehouse until dinner, loading and making out freight bills for the Str. Royal Arch, in order that she may leave for Galveston, which she done in the evening. I drove up town and attended the election for State and County officers. I also attended a session of the City council. I am still suffering with Cough and the itch. Roberta [Downes Halyard nee Hall] had a fever, which lasted nearly all day. Weather clear and hot. Ther : 90°.

Sunday, June 24th, 1866

To day I remained at home writing up this journal. The Str. Royal Arch arrived from Galveston. Capt. Dawson is some better. My cough still severe. Weather clear & hot. Ther : 90°.

Saturday, June 23rd, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Col. Wrigley & the hands finished the black smith shop, but are yet at work on the shed. The Str. Indian No. 2 arrived from Galveston and after discharging some freight she proceeded on her voyage up the [Trinity] river. The river is now falling very rapidly. I am still suffering with my afflictions. Capt. Dawson is quite sick & Confined to his bed. Weather variable & hot. Ther : 90°.

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Col. Wrigley & the hands are still at work on the shop & shed. Hicks still hauling lumber. I am still suffering with my afflictions. Weather variable & hot. Ther : 88°.

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Col. Wrigley and the hands are still at work on the black smith shop also on the salt shed. I am still suffering with my afflictions. Weather variable and hot with a light shower of rain. Ther : 85°.

Wednesday, June 20th, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Col. Wrigley and the hands are still at work on the shop. Steve's team run away and litterly smashed Col. Wrigley's wagon. Hicks had to run my wagon and team in place of Col. Wrigley's, hauling lumber from the cars. The Str. Royal Arch left for Galveston. Weather clear & hot. Ther : 88°.

Tuesday, June 19th, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. The Str. Royal Arch arrived from Galveston with considerable freight on board. Col. Wrigley with the hands are at work completing the black smith shop. I am still suffering with my afflictions. Weather variable & hot: Ther: 84°

Monday, June 18th, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Col. Wrigley and family arrived home from Houston on the cars. I am still suffering with the itch & cough. Weather clear & warm. Ther: 82°.

Sunday, June 17th, 1866

To day Capt. Dawson and family spent the day with us. The Steamers A.S. Ruthven and Col. Stell passed down the [Trinity] river bound for Galveston. I am still suffering with the itch and cough. Weather cloudy and cool for the season with a north wind blowing. Ther : 80°.

Saturday, June 16th, 1866

To day I worked at the warehouse during the forenoon. In the evening I rode up town in Company with Capt. Dawson, and after returning home I had a fever. I am still suffering severely with the itch and cough, neither of which seems to improve any. Weather variable and hot with occasional showers of rain. Ther : 88°.

Friday, June 15th, 1866

To day I worked at the warehouse. Ed. Jones arrived from Houston on the Cars, bringing an umbrella & some other things for me. I sent my buggy down to the shop for some repairs. I am still suffering with my cough. Hicks is engaged hauling. Weather Cloudy & hot with a hard gale at night. Ther : 89°

Thursday, June 14th, 1866

To day I am at the warehouse in the morning at work. In the evening I remained at home and painted one shutter. The Str. Indian No. 2 came down the [Trinity] river and proceeded on her voyage to Galveston. I am still sick with the cough. Hicks, Montgomery and Ed are at work in the corn. Weather clear and hot. Wednesday, June 13th, 1866

To day in the forenoon I worked at the warehouse. In the evening I remained at home and painted one shutter. Capt Dawson opened the black smith shop for public custom [sic]. Hicks & Montgomery are at work in the corn patch. Weather clear and hot. Ther : 88°.

Tuesday, June 12th, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. The Str. Royal Arch left for Galveston with Mrs. John Wrigley on board. Montgomery & Hicks are at work in the potato patch. I am still afflicted with itch and the cough which does not improve any. Weather variable and hot : Ther : 90°

Monday, June 11th, 1866

To day I am at work at the warehouse. Hicks & Steve are engaged hauling shingles from the [rail]cars. The Str. Royal Arch arrived from Galveston and by her I received a barrel of ice to cool the parched tongue. Ed. Jones took dinner with me. My Cough & itch is but little if any better. Weather variable and hot : Ther : 88°.

To day I spent at home writing up this journal. Ed. Jones and Capt. Dawson came and spent the forenoon with me. I am still suffering with the itch and cough. Weather changeable and hot. Ther : 86°
