Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.

To day we made a harrow, and finished bedding the cotton ground. borrowed a clevis from Mrs. Hall. weather cloudy & wind strong from the North.

To day I went to Crockett and returned home in the evening. Still at work bedding for cotton. weather clear & pleasant.

To day the little negro boy Green was burried. I had a large fish dinner which was very nice. weather clear but windy.

To day we started 2? plows to bedding for cotton. ??? the new ground field. weather clear & warm.

To day we fixed up the fence. one plow still in the new ground. Weather cloudy but warm & pleasant.

To day one plow is braking up the new ground. I went to the mill and got 2 bushels of bran. Weather cloudy & windy.
