To day Charley Lund and I at the request of Mrs. Wrigley examined the papers belonging to deaf Smith and among them we found his last will & testament by which he bequeathed every thing he had to Mrs. James Wrigley. I am engaged in the office. Capt. Bolling left on the cars for Houston. The boys Bill & Bob are still at work for Mr. Meyers on his house. weather clear & hot. Ther: 98°.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
