The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] rode down to Mothers [Mahala* Sharp Hall nee Roberts] to get some thread sized and warped. I ground 30½ bushels of corn. weather clear and cool with a hard frost at night.

  1. On the 6th day of February in the year 1864, the Confederate Congress votes to ban the circulation of U.S. currency in the Confederate states. By this point, the Confederate dollar's value had fallen to approximately one-fifth that of the U.S. dollar.
