To day the boys are at work in the new ground. Hicks ground 13 bushels of corn. Nellie* [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] rode down to Mother's [Mahala* Sharp Hall nee Roberts] & remained all night. After she had left Sam* [Samuel Houston Sharp] came out from Crockett and rode down to Mother's to see Nellie. One soldier stopped for the night. Weather variable & rather cool for the time of year.
*This Nellie and Sam are 2nd great-grandparents to the Keeper of this family history blog. Mahala is a 3rd great-grandma, and is Sam's mother.
