To day I am still working around the King house fitting it up. Josephine [Josephine Martha Hall], John & Bill are still sick. Mrs. Keen & Thomas Keen came over & spent the evening. The little wagon made one trip down to the Mill or rather I made the trip with the wagon. Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] rode down to the mill . Hicks ground 4 bushels of corn. Weather variable & hot with a shower of rain. Ther: 95°.
Thus closes my notes for the month of December and also for the year just passed and gone and now numbered with the things that were. Whether the Almighty will spare me to chronicle the daily events of the incoming year is more than I know but trusting in Him I shall enter upon the pleasing task, which is useful as a reference and may be profitable to those who have an interest in me.
