Thursday, December 7th, 1865

To day I am still at work at the warehouse, and am still suffering with the itch. I again loaned my horse and buggy to Mrs. Wrigley to drive out after Mrs. Massie and this time she was successful. The little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] is still doing her own house work, and we are entirely without any help. I cannot procure a cook for any thing like reasonable wages. Weather cloudy and cold.
