Monday, September 1st, 1862

To day we left our camp at Hallmark's & drove 16 miles to the Mill, where I left the little wagon and mules with the servants. The roads were very heavy. In the evening I rode hawk down to Father's where I found the little woman and my pet daughter Fawn enjoying fine health, and who were much pleased to see me. I also found Father's family well. weather changeable & hot with drizzling showers of rain occasionally.
