To day I am busy in the office and tried Mr. R.O.W. McManer for treason against the Government, the evidence not being sufficient he was discharged. Mrs. Beale* & Sam* are still busy in packing up things to go up the Country. R.T. Byrne from Houston came over on the cars and remained with me for the night. In the evening we all visited Capt. Peacock and had a nice little card party. The boys finished the wagon bed for Capt. Wrigley. weather clear & pleasant. [*Mrs. Beale is 3rd great-grandma to the Keeper of this blog . . . Sam is 2nd great-grandpa.]
