Monday, June 27th, 1864

To day the boys are at work in the bottom field. Nellie [Mary Alexandrien Sharp nee Lemaire] rode down to Mother's [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] and spent the day and night. I made two shuttles for the little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp]. Hicks ground 12 bushels of corn & 5 bushels of wheat. An old gentleman & his son stopped with me for the night. Weather clear and hot in the morning but cloudy & rainy in the evening. Ther: 88°.
