In the morning Sam* Sharp started to town before breakfast. I made a single tree & irons etc. and started 2 plows. In the evening all hands including the little woman [Margaret Hall Stewart nee Sharp] had to fight the fire from the woods to prevent the fence from being destroyed, consequently no other work was done. The weather rather cold with N.W. wind blowing rather fresh & frost at night.

*This Sam is a 2nd great-grandpa to the Keeper of this family history blog.
