To day Mother [Mahala Sharp Hall nee Roberts] & I drove in the buggy up to the tan yard in order to get some leather, and have some shoes made. Tubbs with the little wagon & mules drove up with us hauling 18 beef hides. We were compelled to stop with Mr. Prewitt for the night. John is at work digging potatoes. Hicks ground 3 bushels of corn. Weather clear & very hot for the season of the year.
